In the mid-19th century, gold was discovered in the region, and the city’s population began to grow. This allowed Sacramento to turn into a bright city and the state capital.

The geographical location also played a role in the formation of the city district. The city has become a major transportation hub for the entire western part of the continent.

The economic factor of the region is based on public service. Almost a quarter of the state’s civil servants are based in this city, which is about 73,000 people. Civil service is not the only basis of the economy. Other important sectors of the city’s economy are tourism, transportation, various services, medicine, and food processing.

The unemployment rate is 8%. The rate is slightly higher than the state as a whole. It can be said that the state of California has been very seriously affected by the consequences of the financial crisis. In the region, there is a process of selection of households by banks for overdue mortgages.

  • Crocker Museum of Art. The exhibits date back to the Gilded Age. The building houses collections of ceramic elements brought from East Asia. The museum’s shop offers excellent designer items;
  • The historical territory of the city is the old Sacramento. There are many shops, cafes and museums in this area. Time seems to have stopped here, only road markings remind us that it is the 21st century. Cruise ships can be seen setting sail from the area’s pier;

  • “The State Railroad Museum of California is the best railroad museum in the world;
  • “The California Automobile Museum is a museum of motor vehicles. It will be interesting for fans of vintage cars;
  • The Capitol. It is surrounded by a beautiful park area;
  • “Ziggurat. An interesting building in the city. It looks like a pyramid and is located on the banks of the Sacramento River, near the Tower Bridge;
  • “Fort Sutter. It was built during the gold rush. It is currently considered a national park of history.
